Bastian Drees

With a background in biophysics and librarianship, Bastian worked as Community Manager at the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) in the field of audiovisual research data. Since 2020 he has been working for the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), first as Head of the Library and then as Head of the Office for Scientific Information Management (OSIM).

The EMBL Office for Scientific Information Management (OSIM) provides a centre of expertise for managing scientific output and supporting open science for EMBL researchers and staff. OSIM encompasses the Szilárd Library, EMBL Archives and Records, and EMBL Open Science Support. They are responsible for the implementation of EMBL's Open Science policy and aim to create a culture of openness.
