The Open Science Fair is one of the most emblematic events on the Open Science landscape.

The fifth edition of OSFair will be held from 15th to 17th September 2025 at the CERN Science Gateway in Geneva, Switzerland, hosted by the CERN Open Science Office and co-organised with OpenAIRE. This biennial event represents a unique opportunity for key actors in Open Science to meet and exchange ideas and perspectives in the implementation of the next step in the evolution of scientific research.

The primary goal of OSFair is to offer a platform to:

• Contemplate the future of Open Science
• Identify areas of collaboration
• Determine and share collaboration best practices
• Unite individuals from various communities and backgrounds, worldwide
• Create a fertile space for collaborative interfaces

OSFair will bring together a broad and diverse audience and the conference aims to inspire new ways for these various actors to create the roadmaps for Open Science. We welcome participants from research communities and infrastructures, including librarians, content providers, repository managers, service providers, research administrators, scholarly communication innovators, learned societies, policy makers and funders, citizen science groups and initiatives.

Please note: All sponsorship requests will be handled with utter confidentiality and will be prioritised on a “first come, first served” basis, due to practical limitations. The final decision on acceptance will be up to the event’s Organising Committee.

We welcome sponsorship from a range of organisations, including:

• Non-profit organisations engaged in Open Science or related activities
• Projects and research initiatives focused on Open Science or related activities
• Funding agencies
• Philanthropic organisations
• Learned societies
• Companies offering services to the Open Science community

If you feel that your organisation/ company/ institution does not fall within the above-described categories, below you can find the general requirements and criteria for sponsorship eligibility:

Mission & Values Alignment

OSFair sponsors must have a mission or operational focus that is aligned or directly related to Open Science values, such as promoting open access, data sharing, open infrastructure, or non-profit engagement in research dissemination. Entities whose primary business models restrict access to information or monetise access to scholarly publications will not be eligible.

Contribution to Open Science Infrastructure

Eligible sponsors must be able to support their direct contribution to Open Science (infrastructure, tools, platforms that enhance accessibility and collaboration, such as repository platform providers, open-source software for science, training resources, etc.), with emphasis given to infrastructure, technology, or policy solutions over than content curation and dissemination.

Organisations that support Open Science initiatives without profiting from restricting access to scholarly content are also eligible. Entities whose primary revenue model centers on paywalled content, such as subscription-based or exclusive-access publications, may not be considered eligible. Exceptions may apply where revenue sources align with open access and community-supportive models.

Community Impact & Support

Organisations such as non-profit entities, public sector actors, or those with a clear track record of investing in the Open Science community, actively supporting Open Science initiatives through grants, resources or training are also eligible.

Transparency & Accountability

All OSFair sponsors are required to be transparent about their funding models, contributions to Open Science, and any relevant financial interests; conversely, any lack of transparency or restrictive policies on open access or data sharing will result in non-participation. Publishers who wish to sponsor OSFair 2025 should clearly outline their peer-review process, editorial policies, and fee structures on their official websites.

Recognition and Reputation

Preference will be given to sponsors with an established record of collaboration with respected academic institutions, funders, and research organisations.
