Call for workshops

OSF2017 will give the possibility to selected projects, organisations and initiatives to organize a workshop addressing any of the topics of the conference.

OSF2017 provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of work related to the foundational or more conrete aspects of open access and open science.
The OSF2017 organizing committee invites proposals for workshops which may span from 1.5 hour slots to full day workshops.

The deadline for workshop submissions is June 20, 2017.

Topics of interest

Workshops should emphasize current topics of particular interest to the broad community of open science on the latest policy, legal, technical and business issues in open science and related infrastucture, and should include a mix of regular papers, invited presentations and panels that encourage the participation of attendees in active discussion.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
  • open access platforms for any research artifacts
  • infrastructures for open science: services, methods
  • publishing models and costs
  • impact of open science/all types of metrics
  • impact of open science/novel ways of disseminating science
  • research assessment models
  • implementations for fair data
  • open peer review
  • text and data mining for/from research
  • citizen science
  • data skills for open science
  • open education platforms

Evaluation

Workshop proposals will be evaluated primarily on their potential to stimulate interesting discussions, facilitate the exchange of ideas, promote collaborations, and contribute to a concrete roadmap for open science implementation.
Additional criteria are:
  • Relevance  
  • Impact on the wider community
  • Level of innovation  
  • Originality
  • Openness of the solution / method / product
  • Quality and detail of the application form
Applications will be evaluated by the Conference Programme Committee.

Proposers are asked to submit a short proposal that describes all key characteristics and contributions of the workshop:
  • Focus
  • Abstract
  • Relation to the overall objective of the conference 
  • Target audience
  • Community engagement
  • Format and Structure
  • Draft Agenda
  • Speakers
  • Equipment

Important dates

  • Submission deadline: 12 June, 2017 (Extended: 20 June, 2017)
  • Notification of acceptance / rejection:  30 June, 2017
  • Final workshop agenda and speakers line up:  21 July, 2017
  • Conference Dates: 6 – 8 September, 2017
